Although both companies saw promising synergy benefits and opportunities to jointly shape the necessary development at Exportslachterij J. Gosschalk en Zn. B.V., recent developments have disrupted the prospects of this undertaking. An acute liquidity problem arose as a result of the bankruptcy of a Danish customer. The VanDrie Group declared itself unwilling to provide extra
financial resources prior to approval by the competition authority and completion of the acquisition investigation.
Exportslachterij J. Gosschalk en Zn. B.V. has subsequently taken the step of cancelling the declaration of intent.
