Veal in the Spotlight During Healthy Food Week in Bahrain and Kuwait

From 13 to 17 October, the Dutch Embassy in the Gulf Region and VanDrie Group are organising a Healthy Food Week.

From 13 to 17 October, the Dutch Embassy in the Gulf Region and VanDrie Group are organising a Healthy Food Week. During this week, consumers, retail and hospitality buyers and government officials will be showcased the qualities of Dutch food products. Veal will be prominently in the spotlight during this week, with a feature on a Kuwaiti television programme, a number of show cookings by chef Edgar Buhrs and various seminar lectures given by Marijke Everts, Director of Corporate Affairs at VanDrie Group. 

Erik Smidt, Agricultural Counsellor at the Dutch Embassy, explains that a healthy lifestyle is becoming increasingly important in both countries: “Globalisation and the rapid developments in the Gulf region have triggered profound changes in traditional dietary patterns. Eating out and fast food have become commonplace, for instance. Most people spend the day sitting down and almost two-thirds of adults are overweight or obese." 

"Veal ticks many boxes as a healthy option for Arab consumers who are becoming increasingly lifestyle-aware," adds Edgar Buhrs. “Veal is lean, light on the stomach and easy to prepare in the bargain. It fits perfectly in a healthy, well-balanced diet.”
