Dutch SPA agrees with veal producer on further animal welfare improvements
After an agreement in the past about giving calves roughage besides milk and keeping them in group housing instead of narrow boxes, the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals reached a new agreement with the VanDrie Group the largest veal producer of the world for further improving the welfare of calves.
VanDrie Group present at Sial
VanDrie Group is present at the Sial 2008, the Global Food Marketplace, which will be held from 19th untill 23th October in Paris. The stand is being much frequented and on the opening day there was a hearty welcome from Hennie Swinkels for the ladies Annemie Burgers and Alida Oppers.
In spite of the present financial situation all over Europe, which is being followed by all great buying parties, there is a great confidention in the quality product veal: controlled quality veal. One shows big international interest in our veal.
The VanDrie Group
The Dutch-owned VanDrie Group is not only the world market leader in veal, but also a company built on the best family traditions. In the early 1960s, Jan Van Drie purchased his first newborn calf for fattening. Today, with more than 20 companies, the group is the largest integrated veal producer in the world.
Backed up by Safety Guard, a unique integral chain management system, almost 1,4 million calves are processed each year, more than 95% of which are exported all over the world. The VanDrie Group provides ± 20% of all European veal.
